To regulate index operation and guarantee a scientific and authoritative index compilation methodology, China Securities Index set up an index expert committee consisting of domestic and overseas experts and well-known scholars specializing in index compilation, index-based investment and market research. The committee takes charge of the appraisal, suggestion, examination and finalizing of the compilation method, with an aim to ensure a scientific and authoritative compilation method of the CSI index.

The quotes used by the CSI in its calculation of its indices are generated directly from the trading systems of the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Calculated while embedded in the trading systems, the quotes are released to the whole market through the exchanges’ quote system together with the quotes of the individual stocks.
