Q1: What do you think of the recent dramatic increase in the volume of mock trading?
2010-11-24

The past week saw a remarkable increase in the volume of mock trading. Upon analysis, there are three main reasons. Firstly, a lot of institutions organized trading and offered pressure environment in order to test their systems. Secondly, the mock trading competition organized by some network firms and futures companies encouraged the participation of investors and fuelled their trading passion. Thirdly, as there is no cost for mock trading, in which dummy capital is used, most investors participating in the trading only aimed to experience the trading environment of stock index futures. As no actual capital is involved, the participation in mock trading can not represent investors’ real desire to participate in the trading in reality, and the vibrancy in mock trading can not foretell the active participation in real trading. Furthermore, as the mock trading is based on the internet, which is different from that of the real trading system, there exists significant difference in trading handling capability. Thus, investors who care about the stock index futures are expected to analyze the mock trading in an objective and all-around way and make the most of the mock trading for learning and practicing.
